A Christmas Vacation and A New Year
Well, Christmas has come and gone. As always it was a busy time. The Chroale Christmas concert went well. Jared's boss and his wife came to visit that weekend and they came to the concert. Then they took us out to dinner. They gave Jared a new laptop for Christmas. He was (and is still) very excited about it. Since he got it that means that Moro is coming to me.

The cantata at church went well. There were a few little spots where we could have done better (and one of them was the fault of one person who wasn't paying attention most of the way through the program--I was very disappointed), but overall they did quite well and I was pleased.

On Monday, December 22, my family started arriving. My mom, dad, and brother (recently home from Iraq) arrived in the morning, and my grandparents later that evening. It was wonderful to have them all here and get to spend time with them (even though Mamaw wasn't feeling well most of the time they were here). My grandparents and my brother had not yet seen the house (and we've been in it about 2 and 1/2 years now), so we were able to show it off again. Ginger and William joined us Christmas day. I hope they had a good time. Overall while my grandparents were here we played a lot of cards and a lot of Wii! My grandpa really liked it. In fact, when he got home and went to his next doctor's appointment he tried to get his doctor to write a prescription for a Wii. (The doctor said he'd like to, but didn't think their insurance would go for it!). Jared's parents came just before new years' and stayed until the evening on New Years' Day. My parents left that day as well, so we went from having a house full to just the two of us (and Ally) again. Since then things have been back to normal. Actually I'd say things have been quieter than usual.

So far 2009 has started off a bit rough. Mamaw isn't going to do the more powerful chemo (which was the decision we expected, but was still hard), my parents had well trouble and thought they were going to have to re-dig it (thankfully all they had to do was get a new pump), and Mom's most recent mammogram came back abnormal and they're going to do more tests. Mom says she's ready for this year to be over and for 2010 to start, and it's not even February yet! However, I understand her frustration/anxiety. I just hope and pray that there are good things in store for us all in 2009 as well. And hopefully when 2010 rolls in we can look back on this year and say that even though it started off rough it was a good year filled with more joys than sorrows.
