It's that time again...
Well, The last week and 1/2 has been relatively uneventful--aside from the ER visit for Jared's leg (see his blog for more info).

Work started to get really busy the last few weeks. The students are back on campus, and I've been trying to get as many sets of eligibility done as I can (before we have to be gone for the wedding).

Jared and I are trying to nail down dates that we're going to be gone for my sister's wedding and get those plans finalized--or at least more than mere thought. We're discussing doing an over night camping trip on our way there. However when you consider the 'luck' we've had when planning camping trips this summer, perhaps we should just say forget it!

Really the only interesting that has happened in the last couple weeks was that Civic Chorale started up again last week. The choir seems to have shrunk a lot this season. We have several members out participating in the production of Sweeney Todd. We have some new and returning members though, so when we begin rehearsals for the December concert overall we'll have grown (again). (If we keep growing we're not going to fit in that rehearsal room anymore!)

We began work on music for the October concert. The concert will include: Requiem by Gabriel Faure, "Let the people praise thee, O God" by William Mathias (at first reading, seems rather fun), "A Boy and a Girl" by Eric Whitacre (lots of dissonance), "Brightly Dawns Our Wedding Day" from Mikado by Gilbert & Sullivan, and Wedding Cantata by Pinkham (I'm not sure if we're doing all 4 movements or not; I think we are.) We have rehearsal again this evening.

I gave my church choir their Christmas cantata music last Sunday. I'm looking forward to getting started on it. I plan to get them going this Sunday. We listened to one of the sections Sunday at practice, but we need to go over parts, work on rhythms, etc. This also means I need to get to work on practicing conducting it and notating expressions, and marking my score. We use an accompaniment CD for the cantata. If we were a big church with all sorts of musicians and actors we could try for live music. But in our little congregation we just don't have the 'manpower.' So I have to be able to take the CD's tempo, etc.--sometimes a tricky operation. But by using the CD they have rehearsal CD's they can practice with at home, and we can have such instruments as drums, trumpets, bagpipes, etc. which is quite cool. I still have to find the narrators ('Simeon' and 'Anna') and find out where the costumes we used last year went...

We did get to game last Sunday evening. It was the Limar game. That game is always fun. Our characters are 3 sixteen year olds and a uber-genius 6 year old. There is a lot of good role playing done, and we do things no 'normal' adventurer would ever do--cause what 16 (or 6) year old would think to do things like a normal adventurer. And Jared has definitely put together an intriguing story line.

Too 'Frilled'
Okay, so I realize this is my second blog today, but this time something exiting actually happened. I also realize that "Frilled" isn't actually a word in this context, but it is much more fun to say than 'thrilled.' Anyway...

Jared and I went to Mr. K's while we were in town. And as usual I wandered over to the sci-fi/fantasy section to see if they had any of my favorite authors' books in hard back and then to see if I saw anything else interesting.

This particular visit I only managed to get to the first half of my usual visit protocol. I went over to look at the hard backs and was excited to find a hardcover copy of The Renegades of Pern by Anne McCaffrey--one of my favorite authors. And it was only $2.

"Ah ha!! Can't beat that,"I thought to myself as I grabbed it off the shelf and claimed it as mine. (Here let me add that it's hard to find her books in hardback anyway, most of them aren't printed in hardcover anymore; just paperbacks.)

I was further excited by the fact that as I looked at the shelf below I found Dragonseye for $1. It too was claimed as mine. I continued to look and in the next few minutes I had gathered 8, yes EIGHT Anne McCaffrey hardcover books (one written with her son) all for $2 and under. I did not have, in hardcover, any of the ones I found. It was very exciting. So I have 8 'new' (to me anyway-all in decent shape)Anne McCaffrey books--Three of them are 1st editions! So as you can see I'm 'too frilled' (thrilled that is).

I called my mom to tell her of my exciting find, and she had news of her own. She lost her job a couple of days ago, because the boy she assisted at the school moved away. However, it seems today that she got a new job. Doing something very similar in the elementary school. She's excited and much relieved.

So she was 'frilled' and I was 'frilled' and so we were 'too frilled' together! :-) ...I may need another bookshelf!

Happy Friday!
Well, today is Friday. Yay! It's kind of nice to think "This rough week is over!" It wasn't a terrible week. Not really anyway. The first of the athletic teams arrived last weekend, so I was busy this week preparing eligibilities. Overall it went rather smoothly--much better than last year. But somehow the new soccer coach had some confusion about his first game date which led to me being really stressed out from 12:55 to about 1:25 yesterday. Today I decided if it was done it was, and if it wasn't it was his own fault. Except it didn't turn out that way. One of the folks who has to sign the paperwork apparently went out of town without telling anyway. Needless to say this caused quite a bit of stress for all parties involved. So as I said I'm glad it's Friday.

I've not been doing much this afternoon other than normal Friday afternoon pursuits. I did end up driving back over to Milligan. I saw the Runner while I was doing the mail run at work today and I asked him if he'd be willing to record the accompaniment to the song I'm to sing for my sister's wedding so that I can practice it. He said he would, so I took a cd and the music over to him. He decided to go ahead and do it while I waited. He's really quite good. He played through the song once and then turned on his little recording gadget and recored the song. It's not perfect--there are a couple little mistakes, but all in all...he's pretty amazing. In 20 minutes he played it better than I have in the last...what 3 months now. So now I can start practicing the song with the accompaniment, which I've been needing to do for more than a month. So when I got home I put it in my computer. Strangely enough Sound Juicer thinks that "The Irish Wedding Song" is "Take It Away' by Wentus Blues Band and I have no idea why... very odd. Funny, but still...odd.

Shnazzy
Jared and I thought my blog needed to be jazzed up. So we decided upon the Bunny in a snow boot. We'd originally thought about having the Bunny sitting on a snowshoe, but decided that would be a bit hard for Jared to draw. So he got to work on it. When I got home today it was all spiffy! It's great, and Jared was quite proud of himself.

I spent quite a bit of time last month getting invitations/etc ready for my sister's bridal shower by mail. I sent her her present a couple of weeks ago, and included a note explaining what was going on. A few days later she let me know she got it and seemed very excited about the whole thing. I'm glad she's excited. I hope that others have sent presents or cards. When I talked to her a little over a week ago, the only gift she'd received was mine. I'll be quite disappointed if it's just me, mom, grandma, and one of mom's friends who 'attend.' That'd just be sad.

My grandma has been in the hospital the last couple of weeks. They released her on Saturday and she seems to be doing a lot better. Mom is headed home from their place tonight. She'll probably call me later for someone to talk to while she travels.

Our window bird feeder has been a happenin' place lately. The house finches (at least 5 of them) have been fighting over it. It's quite funny to watch them chase each other off so they can try to claim it. On occasion Mr. Cardinal lands and scares them all off. Last night there was even a mourning dove sitting on top of it trying to figure out how it could get some of the seed (being to big to land on the perch). It even looked in the window at me and seemed to say "Hey, this is not fair! I'm hungry too!" Then there's the persistent and talented squirrel. He's figured out how to climb the brick and sit in the window sill (now that we moved the screen so he can't hold on to it) and is still working on getting hold of the feeder to steal the seed. Today I thought Ally was going to start barking at him. She sure did get up on her hind legs at the window to try to see what it was! I don't think she'd know what to do with it! It would definitely be a sight to see.

As I conclude this blog I happened to look out the window to see a bunny hopping across the edge of our neighbor's yard and into ours (though you can hardly see him in the jungle that our back yard currently is). He's quite cute and seems to be having a great time. A cheerful sight and fitting comment for concluding this Bunny Blog.

Beginnings
I have entered the realm of bloggers. Jared wanted to show me how his new model/wizard thing he built for work...eh..works, so he set me up a blog. We'd talked about setting one up for a while, but hadn't gotten so far as to actually do it.

*Disclaimer*
I do not promise eloquent entries, or profound thoughts. Nor do I promise to blog regularly, so do not expect regular updates. My life just isn't that exciting.

That said, let the Blog of Snowshoehare (aka BardicBunny or Whipsers) begin!
